So, who's gonna be seeing Farenheit 911 this weekend? Being a long-time Michael Moore fan (and switching recently from Pro-Bush to Anti-Bush) obviously I want to see the film. But even I have concerns about what one of my favorite roly-poly, disheveled, mishievous, wacky film satirists is doing.
I have no doubt that what is depicted in the film will be the truth, but probably not the whole truth and nothing but the truth. From "Roger and Me", through "TV Nation" and "Bowling for Columbine" he has a wonderful talent for just showing the story and then letting the viewer come to their own conclusions. I remember laughing myself sick at some of the stunts he'd pull on unsuspecting big businessmen during his TV series. Good stuff.
But this film, being released at this time, makes me nervous. Not nervous enough to actually not see it of course, but nervous nonetheless. I know it's going to make me squirm and make me sad and make me even more furious at Bush than I already am but just like the proverbial train wreck I know I won't be able to look away.
After that I might see Shrek II, just to balance things out.
