Where are the site owners located? I noticed that your weather link goes to a Canadian web site. Your mention about serving the whole gulf made me wonder if you are local to LA or further points away.

[Pixie: Where are the site owners located? I noticed that your weather link goes to a Canadian web site. Your mention about serving the whole gulf made me wonder if you are local to LA or further points away.]

I'm definitely a local. And, at this point - it's just me.  I live in Robertsdale and work a fulltime job as a programmer for a local company.      The weather company being located in Canada is just because they offered free XML webservices for weather so that softened the blow to my personal finances for starting the site.   There are plenty of pay services for weather & news that I may subscribe to as membership picks up and if I can find a tasteful way to generate income from the site.

Webhosting for the site is local, too.  It's hosted by Gulf Coast Networking Systems, located in Daphne.  (http://www.gulfnetsys.com)   I've worked with the owner of that company on  programming projects in the past and he's provided some great -and advanced - webhosting for this site.  The server it's sitting on would probably support google.=)

The more than the gulf coast thing is just an idea I had - the site was built to handle alot more traffic & hits than it will get being a Mobile/Pensacola site - so I figured if I can find a way to implement that based on the zipcode you put in when you create an account - then content you see will be relevant to your area.    But.. one step at a time.. it's definitely a mobile/baldwin county thing for now.

rgds,

Based on our discussion about the weather, I did a little research and lo-and-behold - the weather channel offered a weather feed, as well.   I rewrote the weather module to operate from the weather channel and to better personalize the content based on the zipcode in your user settings (when logged in).    I'm alot happier with the weather channel, anyway.
