A mere six months away we'll be choosing the next President of the United States.  I don't ever remember in all my adult life dreading the responsibility I have to vote for one of two people who I think have no business being the leader of our country.

Every time I turn on the news or pick up a newspaper I see where our President has let us down yet again, either in ways I think reflect poorly on our country or offend me personally.  But look who our other choice is.  Someone with a checkered past of waffling between beliefs and a bad habit of changing the facts to suit him on a particular day. How in the hell did he end up as the chosen candidate?  How can we live in a country like the United States of America and have these two men as our only real Presidential choices?

Something is seriously wrong with our political system that when it comes down to casting our vote, these are the only two men we end up with.  Think of the number of qualified, honest men and women out there...some well-known, some not, who for one reason or another can't get the money or backing necessary to get their views and platforms out there the same way others can.  Why?  Why doesn't someone like John McCain or Joe Lieberman or Colin Powell or countless other good candidates either not want to run or know that they are unable to get elected?

I sure do wish ShinKen was here to guide me.  Even Razor, with his stomping and yelling and antagonistic ways, sometimes had words that made sense to me...and who knew?...turned out to be absolutely right about some of the things that I initially faulted him for.

I'm really, really disappointed by our recent leadership and I've got a sinking feeling that it's only gonna get worse, no matter which of the two candidates end up in the White House.

It shouldn't be this way.

These are not the only two on the ballot.  There are independents, green party and a few others that are also running.  It just seems like it is only Bush and Kerry because of the huge amounts of money they have behind them.  Do a little digging and research and you will see that there are others.

Some would say that my vote is wasted on somebody that does not have a chance to win, but you know what?!?!  It is my vote and I can vote any way that I want.  If I want to do a write in and vote for Mickey Mouse, it is my right as an American Citizen to do that.

People really need to wake up and realize that we dont have to be Rep or Dem or choose from just those two parties.  There are so many others out there that just do not have the bucks behind them and I know that they would do a great job.

These are not the only two on the ballot.

Right.  But one of them will win the election so they may as well be.

Although a vote cast for another party's candidate isn't technically a wasted vote, as far as it pertains to this election it is, imo. Votes for third-party candidates may eventually make an impact but the hard fact is that either Kerry or Bush will be leading this country after November and that bothers me.

That is true BUT... you can also vote your conscious and know that no matter what others did, your vote did not go to that person and you are not resposible for him being there.

I think Mickey Mouse has a chance to win.   I'd vote for Mickey.
