I hope every one of you have enjoyed the day.  I'm such an old stick-in-the-mud that I didn't give Pidder much of a celebration.  I've had a really bad flu for two weeks and I'm drained.  That isn't much of an excuse but I'll make it up to her.  I'll take her to Texas next week end to see a dear couple we consider our best friends.  She needs to get away from all the imposing children and grandchildren and maybe that will make her happy, even though she doesn't like Texas.  Maybe we can stop off in New Orleans and she can see Bourbon Street for the first time.  She may like that.  She likes Jazz music.

Awww, Sudz, I'm sorry...didn't know you'd been sick.  Hope you feel better every day.  And...I can't BELIEVE that she's never been to the Quarter!  OMG!  I don't know though...Bourbon Street is one of those things you either love or hate...hope it'll be the first.

I DID have a happy Fourth!  And - it's a long weekend.  I'm on a roll...I'll be seeing my third movie in three days today!

Yesterday D & I saw Spider-Man II and lucky for us they had a special deal at the Daphne Rave where if you buy a monster popcorn and drink you get a free photo with...yes, SPIDER-MAN himself!!!  Of course the only people who wanted to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity were those four-to-thirteen year olds.  Well, them and D and me.  And kids are so unimaginative!  They just go stand up there beside Spider-Man like doofuses, all shy and uninteresting.  But when it was our turn we had Spider-Man crouch down in his famous pose and D and I did the same thing on either side of him!  It was awesome!  We were so special that they gave us two photos instead of one, and also two Coca-Cola bears and comic books and everybody clapped.  Well, the last part is a lie, but I know everyone wanted to, they were just too embarrassed to do so.

The photos will be on the internet this afternoon so some of you lucky folks will be getting a peek one day soon.  :)

Sudz and Pidder... I do hope you get to stop in Nawlins for a bit. It's my most favorite city in the world. If you ever get the chance, go in December... close to Christmas. They have candlelight caroling in Jackson Square. It's amazing!

Luna's right...New Orleans at Christmas is a beautiful thing.  Not only is the Quarter dressed up in its finery, but you'd definitely want to do some nighttime sightseeing in the older residential areas, the Garden District, and out by the park.  Plus, the temperature factor is way nicer in the winter.  The Quarter in July and August is not really somplace you want to be in the daytime, believe me.

Fahrenheit 911, Spider-Man II and (don't ask me why) Dodgeball.  Actually, there was a reason...the reason being I've seen so many movies lately I'm running out and having to pick at the dregs now.  Truthfully Dodgeball wasn't THAT bad...it had its moments.  And of course it had Vince Vaughn, so that helped a lot.

I'm a huge Michael Moore fan and he didn't let me down with F911.  I'm a little surprised that the movie generated as much hoopla as it did because I found it far less scathing than I expected.  Sad, yes.  Disheartening, yes.  But even those who continue to support Bush will not be able to deny the truth of the documents provided or the interviews with people who weren't afraid to say what they think.  Sure, Moore uses his trademark down-home good-guy persona and his typical shocking-though-funny musical score behind film clips and his editing is skillful to say the least.  But the majority of the material presented can't be denied, no matter how much we'd like to be able to do just that.
