...that Judges do in fact make up the law instead of enforcing it. And the Mobile Judge who agreed with the City Shelter that Spencer should be euthanized did exactly that.
The Mobile Shelter does not have a written policy forbidding the adoption of all pit bulls, nor is there a city law prohibiting such adoptions. This is just something they do. In the absence of such a law, the Judge had no legal right to uphold the shelter's decision to disallow the adoption of a woman who not only wants to take Spencer but will accept any and all liability for this dog.
Get real people. Does anybody really think that killing this one particular pit bull is going to make a difference? Breed-specific bans are ridiculous and only an idiot would believe that all pit bulls are dangerous, any more than they should believe that all poodles are sweet little cuddle-bunnies.
When and if the Mobile Shelter has a written policy, approved by the City that oversees it, pertaining to pit bull adoptions, then and only then should a Judge have any right to make a ruling.
I hope a cocker spaniel bites that Judge on his skinny, cruel, snarky little ankles.
